Christopher 'Maverick' Blair is a major character from the Wing Commander series, serving as the (originally unnamed) protagonist of Wing Commander I-IV.

Bio[edit | edit source]

The year is 2644. Humanity ongoing colonization of space has put them to war against the Kilrathi, a species of angry Klingons-turned-Furries that resembles bipedal large cats. Since the war has already been going on for the better part of ten years, the Terran Federation needs new meat to pilot their fighters. One of these recruits taken straight from academy is a certain Christopher Blair, joining the carrier Tigerclaw for the campaign in the Vega system.

Already known as a crack shot while still in flight school; a genetic anomaly also meant Blair enjoyed a inborn sense of orientation in space. He put both skills to good use by repeatedly grabbing the Kilrathi right by the pussy (or, well, their manes); allowing the Federation to push the killer kittens out of the Vega sector. His later career saw him winning accolades in battlesfields ranging from the Engima sector to Orestes system.

Unfortunately for later historians, Blair's meteoric career has been heavily fictionalized by Federation propaganda. In-universe, this was used to allow a soft retcon for the two original games. Out of it, it leads to the eternal fight between Wing Commander fans which of the games, movies, books, and cartoons adaption actually are canon.

In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]

Christopher 'Maverick' Blair fought in the 90s-themed 8chanmania LII. All the time in the cockpit apparently left him unprepared for melee combat, as he was quickly dispatched by Kyle Katarn.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

Outside of the movie adaptions, Christopher Blair's voice actor was no-one other than Mark Hamill.
