8chanmania XXXIX

Eiki Shiki is a yama from the Touhou series and serves as the end boss for most scenarios in Phantasmagoria of Flower View.

Bio[edit | edit source]

Beginning her existence as a mere Jizou statue, Eiki eventually received enough faith to be promoted into her current status as a Yama in the Ministry of Right and Wrong. She is the yama in charge of Gensokyo, and hence is the ultimate authority as to whether the souls of the deceased go to heaven, the netherworld, or hell.

As a yama, Eiki can instantly divide the actions of people into being good (white) or bad (black). It should be noted that this system of judgement is not tied to human standards - Eiki considers lying and stealing to be sinful for regular mortals, but will equally scold a Youkai for not lying and stealing enough if this happens to be its primary "purpose".

Although her habit of lecturing people about their shortcomings does little to increase Eiki's popularity, she seems to genuinely care about the karmic well-being of Gensokyo's inhabitants, and will use her rare breaks from work to visit and warn those who are at acute risk of going to hell unless they improve their manners.

In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]

Eiki Shiki debuted in 8chanmania XXXIX, only to be directly thrown out of the tournament again by Arcueid Brunestud in the first round. She was profoundly flabbergasted by her defeat at the hands of the vampire, while the latter merely pointed out how the Yama's dualistic system of White and Black merely meant everyone disagreeing with her was automatically black.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Despite of her common fan portrayal as an annoying little girl, some cutscenes of PoFV show her to be only marginally shorter than her relatively tall subordinate Komachi Onozuka.
