Eve is the primary antagonist of the eponymous Parasite Eve film, novel, and video game. Essentially a symbiont-turned-parasite, she seeks to eradicate all human life on Earth in order to replace it with "superior" creatures directly capable of manipulating their own DNA.

Bio[edit | edit source]

Long, long ago, when life on Earth still was in its infancy, some proto-eukaryotes somehow entered a symbiotic relationship with entities called mitochondria, giving them the ability to use oxygen in order to regenerate adenosine triphosphate (or ATP), a chemical compound vital when it comes to providing energy to the cell.

It was perhaps this symbiosis that allowed the eukaryotes to evolve into a myriad of different forms, ranging from the protista to plants and fungi, to all forms of animal life currently known on our planet; notably including humans; with each cell inside of these organisms having its own mitochondria that diligently supplies it with power.

Unfortunately, the mitochondria are - or rather, is - not quite as mindless and obedient as people suspected. If their consciousness within a single (invariably female) host is awoken, they (Eve) can take active control over her body and transform it into an eldritch abomination; all while gaining the ability to manipulate the mitochondria in other humans so as to set them on fire or make them degrade into a thick, blubbery goo. Eve can also directly mutate lesser lifeform (i.e., animals) directly and turn them into ferocious monsters.

Within the first Parasite Eve Game, Eve manifested in the young girl Maya Breah, but the latter died in a car accident. One of Maya's kidneys was donated to the opera singer Melissa Pearce (who would become Eve's next main host), while her right cornea was removed and later used to treat an eye defect in her older sister, Aya Brea.

The latter would come in handy as it not only restored Aya's eyesight, but also made her immune to the "Make everyone around me catch fire" effect of a mutated Melissa Pearce taken over by Eve, and Aya eventually managed to kill Eve for (seemingly) good.

In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]

Eve made her first appearance in the horror-themed 8chanmania XXXV and promptly lost against the Controller in the preliminaries.

Eve, alongside the Controller fought in 8chanmania XLIV as a tag team. The two initially managed to win against Point Man and Paxton Fettel, but were kicked out in the second round by Jetstream Sam and Raiden.

Though not an Ara in the strictest sense of the word, Eve still was deemed eligible for the Ara-themed 8chanmania XCI. It was of little use to her, as Eve's suggestion to 'borrow' the baby of Betty Newbie triggered her own death flag.

A visibly pregnant Eve appeared in 8chanmania XCIV, and was subjected to an impromptu field abortion by a rather annoyed Raziel.

An even more visibly pregnant Eve participated in 8chanmania XCVI, but was too flabbergasted by the strange ways of evolution that led to the creation of Abby Anderson as if that she could put up any meaningful resistance.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Eve's title as "Mitochondrial Eve" actually refers to the most recent common female ancestor of modern day humans - as mitochondrial DNA is solely inherited from the female parents, one can theoretically find a single woman from which all humans on the planet descend if you have the time and patience to go back far enough.
