Samuel Rodrigues, better known under his moniker Jetstream Sam, is an antagonist in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (and later became the protagonist of the Jetstream DLC.

Bio[edit | edit source]

Sam apparently descends from a famous line of Japanese swordsmen. He fittingly was trained in the art of the sword in the dojo of his father, at least until the latter was murdered by one of his own students. Sam did what every flashy warrior would have done and left the country, only to come back later on and kill the assassin of his old man.

Having taken care of these issues, Rodrigues did a few odd jobs here and cut up some cartel mobsters there, until he finally heard of Senator Armstrong. He planned to kill the American for over the perceived notion that he was just another armchair general who merrily sent soldiers to their death, after learning that you don't fuck with this senator, Sam instead saw their shared ideologies and joined Armstrong's PMC World Marshall Inc. - more specifically, the sub-group Desperado Enforcement LLC.

The habit of the latter to cause more wars than to solve them eventually put Sam at odds with Raiden. The two became fast friends, with Sam costing the other swordsman an eye and an arm during their first encounter. Raiden eventually returned the favor by ramming his own sword through Samuel's chest and killing him in the process.

In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]

Season I[edit | edit source]

Considering how much the two liked each other, it should come as no surprise that Jetstream Sam so far only has fought as part of a tag team with Raiden. The first such occasion was back during 8chanmania XXXI, where the two faced Mahatma Gandhi and Utsuho Reiuji. It didn't work out overly well for the two cyborgs, but at least Utsuho managed to pin Sam before she turned the entire ring into a nuclear disaster zone.

Season 2[edit | edit source]

The two once more formed a tag team for 8chanmania XLIV, and this time with considerably more success. They defeated:

It was only the oldschool combo of Doomguy and Ranger that eventually saw their defeat, with Raiden suffering a pin at the hands of Quake protagonist.

Sam and Raiden reappeared for 8chanmania LIII, facing Cate Archer and Point Man in their first round. Sadly, Sam was far to occupied with checking out Miss Archer as if that he could pay proper attention to the match, and they subsequently lost it. To add insult to injury, Cate promptly rejected their proposal to join the team of the UNITY agent, stating that Sam was more interested in getting in than getting out.

The two naturally would never give up, and thus it was only fair that they immediately were kicked out of the preliminary round of 8chanmania LXV by Nero and Vergil.

Season 3[edit | edit source]

Sam's debuted as a solo fighter took part during 8chanmania LXXXV. The cyborg put down another cyborg dubbed Dural, but then had the bright idea of insulting a a Frenchman who happened to be piloting a giant robot, earning him a nasty crit.

During 8chanmania C, Sam was one of multiple Metal Gear-related characters beaten up by Abby Anderson while the latter was looking for the Wrestle Gear.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Jetstream Sam was the perhaps only member of Desperado Enforcement that was not enhanced by large-scale cybernetics - the only artificial thing about his body was his right arm, with the original one having been crippled during his "job interview" with Senator Armstrong
