Lau Chan is a playable character from the Virtua Fighter series.

Bio[edit | edit source]

The elderly Lau Chan is a famed practitioner of the Koen-ken, or Tiger-Swallow Fist - essentially a form of Shaolin Kung Fu that combines the brute strength of a tiger with the gracious moves of a swallow. Coincidentally, Chinese cuisine also knows a famous dish called 'Swallow nest', which has fuck-all to do with swallows (being made by swifts, no relation to the singer), but nicely ties to Lau Chan also being an award-winning cook.

Aside from being a shameless expy of Tao Pai from Dragonball (to the point both characters have the same Japanese voice actor), Lau Chan's joins each of the World Fighting Tournaments to gain full mastery of the Koen-ken. This makes him the customary 'Chinese Kung Fu Grandpa' of the series, although his daughter Pai Chan usually is too busy too busy attending the same tournaments as if that she could finally give the old coot his grandkids.

In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]

Lau Chan fought in the 90s-themed 8chanmania LII. Him being a Chinese chef and Felicia being a cat (sort of) came with severely unnerving implications, but any potential outcry from PETA proved pointless when the cat got his tongue.
