Pete Hines was a long-time marketing executive at Bethesda Softworks.

Bio[edit | edit source]

As part of the marketing department, Hines was the perhaps only person was Bethesda (and, indeed, the potentially only person other than Peter Molyneux) with a more creative interpretation of objective facts than Todd Howard himself. He joined Bethesda back in 1999, making him the head honcho of PR and advertising for games ranging from Morrowind to Doom Eternal.

He and Howard shared a curious dualism: While both were notorious for their loose grip on reality, Howard somehow is still seen as something akin to an affable rogue, or even an over-enthusiastic child trying to sell you dirt cakes. Hines also tried to sell you dirt cakes (and canvas bags that weren't canvas, and came seven months late), but somehow was seen as a soulless corporate monster.

Perhaps it was this seemingly unfair dualism that broke him. Or perhaps he ran out of whisky to drink himself to sleep over the post-launch PR disaster of Starfield; with company interns being forced to reply and try to 'correct' the flood of negative Steam reviews. At any rate, he left Bethesda on October 16th, 2023, and is now enjoying retirement.

In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]

Pete Hines debuted in 8chanmania LV. He and Soulja Boy had a fiery match over who could sell the bigger turd on a plate on unsuspecting customers, but quickly tapped out after realizing he was outclassed by several magnitudes.
