Julius II was pope of the Catholic Church from 1503 to 1513.

Bio[edit | edit source]

Born as Giuliano della Rovere, the man that would become Julius II was a nephew of Pope Sixtus IV. Much like his uncle, della Rovere had absolutely no interest in spiritual matters, and furthermore sporty a grouchy, fierce temper that made him the dread of his subordinates. The Medicis therefore made him the successor of Pope Pius III

It is said that Julius II didn't fashion his name after Pope Julius I, but Julius Caesar. Whether or not this is true remains up for debate, but suffice it to say that he found Italy full of people he didn't like when he entered office, and left it with slightly less people he didn't like by the time he was done. This lead to a great deal of admiration from people like Machiavelli.

Aside from restoring the papal states to power and bullying the Borgias, Julius II also was a lavish patron of the arts. He was close friends with Michelangelo (who did a pretty nifty paintjob on the Sistine Chapel), and also was a sponsor of Raphael (who, ever the lecherous old man, used all the money to draw schoolboys from Athens).

Season 2[edit | edit source]

Julius II debuted in 8chanmania LIX. His first opponent was Claude Frollo who, while technically his underling, immediately pissed him off by virtue of being French. Alas, his embattled career had been taxing on Giuliano, and he ended up being defeated by the upstart cardinal.

8chanmania C[edit | edit source]

Pope Julius II took part in the Historical Harrowing during 8chanmania C, but the latter being the giant clusterfuck it was, the only thing known for sure is that he didn't win it.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Julius II was such a stone-cold motherfucker that he dared to grow a beard - something in forbidden in Canon Law since the 13th century. Chances are *someone* tried to inform him about this, and chances are Julius II retorted with a hearty "vaffanculo!".
