Bio[edit | edit source]

Scatman John (Real Name: John Paul Larkin) was a music artist specializing in scat singing. John has a real stutter when he's not singing, and was considered a hero to those suffering from the same speech impediment. His first hit song was released in 1995, "Scatman (Ski-Ba-Bop-Ba-Dop-Bop)" followed by "Scatman's World". John was diagnosed with lung cancer in 1998, but continued to sing until his death on December 3, 1999 at the age of 57.

In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]

Scatman John debuted in 8chanmania LII, which was the 90's themed mania. His first opponent was Pepsiman, whom he lost to via pinfall. Though he lost, John stuck by Pepsiman's side until he arrived in the finals against (You). Pepsiman lost his battle with autism, God rest his soul. Scatman John appeared again in 8chanmania LIII with Buane as his partner. Together, they defeated Dan Lazarski and System Shock 1 Protagonist, Velvet Crowe and Laphicet, Ouya-tan and Kazuma Kuwabara, and Point Man and Cate Archer before arriving in the finals against Los Tiburon and Vivec. Scatman John put up one hell of a fight, almost never tagging in Buane, and eventually managed to pin Los Tiburon and secure the win. However, there could only be one belt winner here. Scatman John and Buane had a very emotional but still very groovy final fight against eachother, but in the end, Buane bested him and took the belt. It was implied afterwards that Scatman passed on to the afterlife once again.

He briefly returned from the latter for 8chanmania LXXXI. Defeating his colleague Buddy Holly, the Scatman flatly refused to accept Holly's dour idea that their respective musical style had died with them, and instead held a rousing speech in which he declared that musicians and music alike will always be alive so long as there are still people who listen to them. Buddy and his own entourage (consisting of Neil Peart, Keith Flint, and Elvis Presley) were so impressed that they chose to follow the Scatman.
That the Scatman was defeated by Jareth the Goblin King in the next round was of no consequence, for the latter, too, was impressed by John's tenacity, and thus spared him from a ride to his magical realm.
