Aerith Gainsborough is a major character from Final Fantasy VII and its assorted spin-off titles.

Bio[edit | edit source]

Aerith ostensibly appears to be a young woman that sells flowers in the slum district of the dystopian cyberpunk city Midgar. This only leaves two options: She either sells more than just flowers, or she actually is a magical crossbreed between a human father and a pseudo-elf mother that communicates with the voice of the planet itself while hiding from the local megacorp and its respective Dr. Mengele.

Long story short, she is purpose-built purer-than-pure waifu material, and you better believe Square knew what it was doing when it had Sephiroth kill off the cutie. In Square's defense, this worked out exactly as planned, and spawned dozens of insanely convoluted theories on how to resurrect her while also letting you play as Luigi in Super Mario 64, or catch Mew behind that one truck in Pokémon.

After twenty years of whining from the fans, Square realized the could earn a quick buck by taking FF7, filling it with enough bloat to make it a trilogy, and advertise the whole bullshit by letting you keep Aerith alive. She ends up getting killed anyhow, but that's fine - you get a spare.

In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]

Aerith (alongside Tifa Lockhart) initially appeared as the squealing yaoi fangirl squad of Crossdress Cloud Strife during 8chanmania LXXXII. While Cloud did not make it past the preliminaries, getting to see him all sweaty and worked-up inside a girly dress presumably delivered everything the girls wanted.

Her own adventure in the ring took place in the porn-themed 8chanmania XCVI, where she and Tifa went into one hell of a catfight. Needless to say, the girl whose ultimate spell is called 'Fist' won.
