Alan-a-Dale is a supporting character and the narrator of Disney's 1973 movie Robin Hood.
Bio[edit | edit source]
Being an entertainer in older times was a hard lot. There was no internet to reach your prospective audiences, let alone Twitch subscriptions or Patreon accounts that would attract your devoted simps. Your ability to generate coin was based on your reputation, and since the latter came by word-of-mouth, many pre-modern pop stars were wandering minstrels making their way from town to town.
Over in ol' Britain, one such minstrel ran by the name of Alan-a-Dale (or Allen a Dale, or Allan A'Dyle, or What's-his-name). As the legend goes, Alan joins the merry men of Robin Hood impersonates a bishop and slightly alters a wedding ceremony to save Alan (and his sweetheart) from an NTR ending at the codpiece of a lecherous old knight.
Whether or not Alan-a-Dale actually existed is up for debate; especially since he was a fairly late, 17th-century addition to the folk tale. He truthfully might have been forgotten or conflated with more prominent characters from the legend altogether, had Disney not decided to turn him into a signing cock.
In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]
Alan-a-Dale served as the manager and personal bard of Robin Hood during 8chanmania LVIII. His attempt to build up a proper and dramatic narration fell somewhat flat when Robin was immediately eliminated by the sell-sword Louie.
