Aperture Science Physical Testing Facility
The Aperture Science Physical Testing Facility is the current incarnation of the 8chanmania ring and various attached structures.
Creation[edit | edit source]
The Testing Facility was pieced together from the fragments of Calypso's original Season 1 Ring by GLaDOS. The latter presumably used frasergy leaked following the events of 8chanmania_x_MFW_-_IN/V/ASION to reconstitute and reshape the original ring after it underwent a near-complete disintegration and failure to exist.
Ugandan Knuckles and Knuckles Boom suggested much of the Testing Facility is coated with asbestos, which (aside from being highly toxic) apparently has some side effect which allows it to keep the souls of captured wrestlers inside the facility.
Main Areas[edit | edit source]
The Ring[edit | edit source]
The actual wrestling ring itself. Has seen lots and lots and lots of fighting, and did fighting itself on two occasions.
Jets installed at the edges of the mat may be programmed to emit either flames or toxic gas. The ring may also be rigged with pyrotechnics and/or plain old explosives - either by the tech crew, or by wrestlers that are crafty enough to smuggle the damn stuff in. Whether the "audience" around the ring is real or not is everyone's best bet.
The Commentary Booth[edit | edit source]
Just as its name suggests, this booth hosts the various commentators for each tournament. It features a wild arsenal of buttons which can be used for anything from cutting camera transmission from the ring to plainly setting it on fire. Fuck-ups during the mania were routinely blamed on co-commentator Cirno pressing the wrong button.
The commentary booth nominally is under control of Default-Chan, but saw occasional use by guest commentators like Crypt Keeper, and was largely slaved to GLaDOS during most of the second season.
It had a back room attached to it where Deffy hosted various guests, such as Plum and Hotaru Ichijou - usually for their own safety.
Holding Cells[edit | edit source]
Alluded to by some wrestlers. This presumably is where fighters are kept either in between matches, or may even be held for the duration of the entire season if the entity in charge does not release all fighters before it ends (as Calypso did).
Hatsune Miku tried to open all holding cells in order to free the "volunteers", but found her attempts frustrated by elaborate software locks until the very end of the second season.
The Holding Cells presumably saw no further use after BANZAI Inc. took over and wrestlers were attracted by financial incentives instead of forced abductions.
Server Room[edit | edit source]
The place from where GLaDOS and later SHODAN run the mania. Hatsune Miku joined the two and effectively took over after Ouya-tan uploaded her to the central mainframe. Road Runner also visited this place to turn himself into TNA-Chan, desu.
The Vault[edit | edit source]
A secret place, deep beneath the surface of the Earth. It was here where both the Wrestle Gear and the prize money for the grand champion of the third season were held. The Wrestle Gear is still there, while the prize money is not.
Minor Areas[edit | edit source]
Snacks Stands[edit | edit source]
An infinite source of wildly overpriced food for both wrestlers and members of the audience. Particularly noted for the corndogs. Apollo from The Cheetahmen regularly visited it between matches.
Toilets[edit | edit source]
Where all the shit happens. Johnny Sasaki fled here due to a sudden case of the runs after his match against Nanami in 8chanmania LXVI. He apparently still was stuck there by the time of 8chanmania XCII, when Chaos daemons of Slaanesh invaded both the mania and presumably him. Also may or may not be the retirement place of Doi Aki.
Workshop[edit | edit source]
Where Lil' Vi handles textboxes.
Engine Room[edit | edit source]
Spontaneously caught fire after Ron Paul announced it was happening during 8chanmania C.
