Balthasar Gelt is a major character of the Empire faction from Warhammer Fantasy.
Bio[edit | edit source]
Once an aspiring young student of alchemy (or the 'Lore of Gold', as it was known in the Empire), Balthasar's studies seemingly took a turn for the worse when one experiments went wrong and left his face horribly disfigured. While this caused him to hide it behind a golden mask at all times, he continued to rise through the ranks until he not only became leader of the Gold College, but also Supreme Patriarch of all Colleges of Magic. This gave him access to lots of clever tricks, up to (and chiefly including) turning enemies into statues of solid gold.
Balthasar Gelt played a major role during The End Times (which is too lengthy to summarize here) and may or may not reappear in Age of Sigmar (which we won't include, because fuck Age of Sigmar). His popularity greatly rose with Total War: Warhammer, in which Gelt originally served as one of the Legendary Lords of the Empire, but ultimately got his own faction named Golden Order. Aside from his bonuses to troop armor, spellcasters, and missile damage, the chief reason to pick Gelt is his hilarious hammy voice acting - a trait her shares with a certain someone else.
In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]
Balthasar Gelt's only appearance was in 8chanmania XCVII. Defying E. Honda claim about the strength of matter over mind, he had an interesting run-in with Rugal Bernstein over the tendency of the latter to likewise turn defeated enemies into metal statues. Gelt solved the issue by launching a solid gold bar against Bernstein's forehead and knocking him out in the process. He seemingly ran out of transmutable metals during his match against Ghost Widow during the quarter-finals.
