Banjo is the titular bi-protagonist of the Banjo-Kazooie.

Bio[edit | edit source]

Banjo used to be a good ol' bear; peacefully living at home with his sister Tootie, and his avian backpack birdo Kazooie. The latter two weren't to thrilled about his laid-back lifestyle, and constantly urged him to finally go on an adventure. More out of annoyance than anything, Banjo finally relented - but just then, the evil with Gruntilda showed up to kidnap his sister and squeeze the beauty out of her for personal use.

Left with little other choice, Banjo and Kazooie set out on a rescue mission to get Tootie out of Gruntilda's warty claws. Unlike most other jump'n'run heroes, they actually act as one unit - with Banjo doing most of the running, jumping, climbing, and swimming; while Kazooie can pop out of his backpack to (briefly) let both of them fly, or to shoot eggs at nearby enemies. It's a two-in-one packet in the best sense of the word.

In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]

Banjo fought in 8chanmania LXXXII. He ran straight into Dick Gumshoe, who was busily closing down the scene for a murder investigation. Kazooie quickly pointed out that Gumshoe was denser than a bag of cement and should be easy to take out (none to the least because Gumshoe hadn't even realized he had unwittingly signed himself up for a fighting tournament).

A quick call (and another threat to dock his pay) from Miles Edgeworth, however, meant that Gumshoe suddenly found unknown powers within himself - meaning that Banjo sooner than later ended up tapping out.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Banjo had a curious development history - he originally was a sworld-wielding secondary NPC from the planned Rare adventure Project Dream. When the latter got canned, Rare moved onto recycle assets from Project Dream for a new 3d platformer, which would become Banjo-Kazooie.
  • As a result of the above, the first actual appearance of Banjo (and Banjo-Kazooie NPC Tiptop) actually was in Rare's earlier game Diddy Kong Racing.
