Dark Donald is an edit of the regular Ronald McDonald fighter from MUGEN.

Bio[edit | edit source]

While Ronald McDonald fundamentally is as American as McDonalds itself, McDonalds Japan and its often quirky TV ads ("Ran Ran Ruuuuu!") have helped to establish Ronald as something of a memetic figure overseas. As such, it really was just a matter of time until someone made a MUGEN edit for him. The latter quickly established itself as one of the best-known of such edits; not to the least because he perfectly embodies the sheer absurdity behind your average MUGEN edit.

But if turning somewhat unlikely pop culture icons into fighting game characters is one half of MUGEN, the other half is trying to one-up hilariously overpowered bullshit edits with even more hilariously overpowered bullshit edits. As a joke on this entire phenomenon, Dark Donald neither is, nor is meant to be anything close to a reasonably balanced fighter. On the other hand, the term 'balance' loses most of its meaning if Rare Akuma drops the proverbial death star on you.

In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]

Season 1[edit | edit source]

Dark Donald debuted in 8chanmania VIII, but lacking records mean nothing beyond him not winning a belt is known.

Season 2[edit | edit source]

The Clown reappeared in 8chanmania XLVII, taking down Pepsiman in the opening round, and announcing to the Mania world his plans to launch McSoda and destroy every other soda that would dare stand against it. Donald moved nearly effortlessly through the next two rounds, forcing Nero Tol Scaeva to tap, and ending the magical run of Viewtiful Joe via pinfall. Donald would run into a superior opponent in the Semifinals though, with Phantom R stealing the victory away, and delaying the launch of McSoda, at least for now.

Amidst cries of general despair, Dark Donald teamed up with fellow MUGEN warrior Rare Akuma for 8chanmania LIII. They began their reign of terror by doing a speedrun on Angel and Tetsuo Shima, but found themselves unable to continue it after Brauggi and Kunio gave them a good beating -- a beating that lasted around 30 minutes (even in MUGEN time) that eventually resulted in a win for the duo. However, it might have been quicker if Rare Akuma and Kunio WEREN'T out for each-other's blood, as neither of them gave their respective partners a chance to shine. Rare Akuma and Dark Donald's reign ended rather quickly on their third match against Point Man and Cate Archer, with Point Man having the needed tools required to bring an end to the target he was seeking the whole mania.

Season 3[edit | edit source]

Bullets were sweat when the Dark Clown returned in 8chanmania LXXIII. He mercilessly disposed of certified magnet oil salesman and ancient internet celebrity Alex Chiu, but even Donald's fearsome eldritch powers could not move Ugandan Knuckles out of da wey.

The grand revival of Dark Dolan in 8chanmania XC was sped up and terminated when he got his shit kicked in by Simon Belmont

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The simulate the absolute batshit insanity of what fighting Dark Donald in MUGEN feels like (or what fighting in MUGEN in general feels like), Dark Donald's matches routinely were put up to 500% speed.
