Dr. Ivo Robotnik (also known as Dr. Eggman) is the primary antagonist of virtually all Sonic the Hedgehog games since the inception of the series in 1991.
Bio[edit | edit source]
Robotnik in many respects is a great man - he is of great stature (at least in waist circumference), of great intellect (with a stated IQ of 300 and genius-level skills in robotic engineering) and suffers from a great lack of common sense (as showcased by him constantly losing to a bunch of furry critters on speed). Indeed, he theoretically has all he needs to conquer the entire universe; but his own hubris, narcissism safely ensure that there's at least one giant flaw in his otherwise elaborate plans. To his defense, Robotnik still is clever enough to always make a timely escape whenever Sonic and his friends defeat him yet again.
In 8chanmana[edit | edit source]
Season 1[edit | edit source]
Dr. Robotnik likely debuted in 8chanmania V, but nothing beyond his participation is known.
The same situation applies to his appearance in 8chanmania XV.
His first properly documented appearance was in 8chanmania XX, where he teamed up with Metal Sonic. Maker and machine managed to molest Coldsteel the Hedgehog and Infinite, but found themselves stumped when it came to their later match against Waluigi and Wario.
In 8chanmania XXVI, Dr. Robotnik outperformed the TF2 Engineer, but then got crushed with the entire imperial might of Joseph I of Austria.
He would later resurface in 8chanmania XXXII, where he represented the board /fast/. He faced /jp/'s Kamen Rider and exploded (notably in Japanese) after the hero of justice landed a KO against him.
Presumably having pieced himself back together, Robotnik returned for 8chanmania XXXII. He cleanly put Metal Sonic out of commission (and sold him to Christian Weston Chandler) during the preliminaries, but was unable to overcome the sheer grace of Squilliam Fancyson one round later.
Robotnik is scheduled to make an appearance in the PilotMania.
Season 2[edit | edit source]
Owing to their shared popularity in in high-quality in YouTube Poop vids, Robotnik was placed into a team alongside the notorious I.M. Meen for 8chanmania XLIV. While they won against Keine Kamishirasawa and Fujiwara no Mokou in the first round, the fact that they spent most of the time insulting one another instead of their opponents clearly showed this was no marriage made in love. This might explain why they immediately lost against Nigra and Mona one round later.
Eggman attempted a slightly more subtle approach when he smuggled himself into 8chanmania L and, having put on a masterful disguise, goaded Knuckles into fighting the other wrestlers by suggesting they had stolen his Master Gem. But Ivo Robotnik's plans are fate-bound to fail. In this case, they failed so hard that Knuckles not only got his red ass kicked by Hatsune Miku, but also was erased from existence at the hands (well, you get the idea) of Line-Block at the end of the mania.
Robotnik formed a tag team together with fellow mad scientist Bondrewd for 8chanmania LIII. Their blaze of glory was short-lived - during their prelim match against Spongebob and Candyman, the latter brought down Eggman via pinfall.
For 8chanmania LXV, Robotnik tried to partner up with a slightly more intimidating villain in the form of Sauron, but their first match against The Cheetahmen and Charles Barkley also happened to be their last one in the tournament. Eggman notably was arrested by the Lolice afterwards.
Pilotmania[edit | edit source]
Robotnik fought in PilotMania. He successfully dodged a bullet in the form of Banzai Bill before he got bullied by Zaku II.
Season 3[edit | edit source]
Always eager to win the race, Eggman came back for more in 8chanmania LXXVII. His genius proved to be greater than that of Dr. Weil and his fighter Omega, but after amusingly adding a freezer compartment to Omega, Robotnik took on a machine one number too large for him when he tried to get his gloved fingers on Sinistar.
Though not directly involved in 8chanmania XCVIII, Robotnik had cunningly disguised himself as CDI Link and thus fought alongside King Harkinian in an aftershow match against Yang Wen-li and Walter von Schönkopf. The King and the mad roboticist won the match after Robotnik launched a murderous nightmare press against Schönkopf.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- His actual name is a bit of an issue. He was conceived as Eggman by SEGA and is known as that in Japan, but renamed into Robotnik by American localizers and hence is better known as such in the West. Apart from proving once more that localizers fuck up everything if not kept on a tight leash, the issue was eventually settled by making Ivo Robotnik his actual name, and Eggman his commonly used nickname.
- In yet another localization fuck-up, Robotnik was once described as a "feminist" in an early character card. The original Japanese text used a word more akin to "self-styled romancer" (a direct translation is difficult, it's a cultural thing).
