Duran is a major character from Trials of Mana.
Bio[edit | edit source]
A proud warrior of the rather scenic kingdom of Valsena, Duran's family background means he's chummy with the royal family and enjoyed a fairly laid-back job guarding Castle Valsena. He is a fairly competent swordsman, and takes great pride in his ability until some random wizard shows up and starts blasting. A devastated Duran comes to understand that being good with a knife means jackshit when you are in a literal firefight, and very nearly ends up dead.
His defeat left a serious dint in Duran's spirit. So he left Valsena and swore to never return until he a) had become the best swordsman in the world, and b) force-fed the wizard some humble pie. Other than that, he's a perfectly generic JRPG protagonist (down to the ridiculous hairstyle) and, depending on the players choice, can be grown into anything from a noble leader-type character with healing hands to a raging berserker that keeps throwing his sword at people.
In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]
Duran fought in 8chanmania XCIII. His own grudge against creeps in red clothing meant Jack of Blades couldn't exactly pull his usual psycho games against him, and his previous experience of having fireballs yeeted at him ensured Duran won the subsequent match against Krizalid. What actually forced the proud soldier of Valesena to tap out was, ironically enough, a friendly Cleanbot.
