Evolver is the robotic antagonist from the glorious trash movie of the same name.
Bio[edit | edit source]
Following the immense popularity of its virtual reality laser tag game Evolver, US-based Cybertronix sought for a fun and ideally lucrative way to "port" the otherwise arcade-bound game to the real world. To this end, they created the toy "Evolver" - a small robot that not only possessed an arm-mounted compression air gun it could use to fire foam balls, but also enjoyed a remarkably sophisticated AI which allowed it to "evolve" as it played against human opponents; mimicking the increasingly difficult stages of the original game.
To get the PR machine going, Cybertronix gifts the first prototype Evolver to a boy named Kyle; who recently won a national tournament of the VR game. He initially has great fun with his new toy, but as Evolver proverbially "evolves" and falls back on the military tactics its AI originally had been designed for, Kyle and his family are in for the game of their lives.
In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]
Evolver debuted in 8chanmania LXXX. Its combat routines quickly drew the first oil as it crushed the hapless LEGO Gonk Droid, but the killing machine was far from done: It went on to defy Tali's attempts to take it apart and took her apart instead, produced a painting of Vince with his own blood, gained a drastic boost in popularity after removing Neco-Arc, and finally took the belt by crashing Crash Bandicoot (Retold).
Evolver's entry into the grand finals of 8chanmania XCIX saw it facing off against the Gundam Rose; piloted by Jeanne d'Arc. His assessment that the Frenchwoman would offer an immediate surrender quickly revealed itself as a miscalculation, and as Evolver was defeated, it resumed to being a mere children's toy.
