Bio[edit | edit source]
Grape-kun was a real life Humboldt Penguin at the Tobu Zoo in Japan. His nickname Grape-kun comes from the purple armband he wears on his left wing. He got famous due to seemingly falling in love with a Hululu cutout placed in his enclosure at the zoo. Grape-kun would stare at and guard the cutout for hours, and was so attached to it he would sometimes need to be forcefully separated from it so he would eat his food. This behavior had many parallels with waifuism, and the story became viral. Grape-kun would continue his devotion to Hululu until the day he died of natural causes, on October 12, 2017. Supposedly, zoo staff took the cutout with him to the vet clinic and it was next to him in his final hours.
In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]
Grape-kun made his 8chanmania debut in 8chanmania IX, with Hululu watching over him as the referee. His first opponent was Pingu. Not to be outclassed by another penguin, Grape-kun asserted his dominance and showed his cleverness by winning via ring-out. Nothing could have prepared him for his next opponent, though. Wampa was brutal and uncaring, nearly slaughtering the poor bird in front of his beloved waifu. He has not made an appearance since.
