Javert is a playable character from the indie fighting game ArmJoe, which in turn is a loving parody of the stage version of Les Miserables.
Bio[edit | edit source]
As history has shown, magical things can happen when Japanese developers (let alone Japanese one-man developers) develop a fondness for a Western works and decide to make a video game out of it. In the case of ArmJoe, this meant turning the grief and pain of Victor Hugo's historical a 2d fighting game in the likes of Street Fighter, mixing very authentic nods to the original with the likes of a robotic Valjean.
Much as in source material, ArmJoe's Javert is a tall and intimidating figure who represents the long arm of the law - and proverbially so, given the long reach of Javert's attacks. On the flipside, the orthodoxy of his belief means Javert is utterly rigid in his morals, and equally rigid in his fighting style; leaving him in a tough spot when the situation requires flexibility.
In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]
Javert fought in 8chanmania LXXII. Having set out to bring justice to the gambling den of the ring, he was not impressed when he met another officer of the law in the form of Francis York Morgan. His disdain quickly changed into horror when Morgan not only defeated him, but also - in his usual, nonchalant tone - told him about a case involving a female victim that was force-fed chicken eggs until she expired.
