Mark Henry is a retired American powerlifter and professional wrestler.
Bio[edit | edit source]
From a young age, Henry was fascinated by wrestling in general and André the Giant in particular. The last part became particularly prominent after he, attending a live event featuring André, tried to touch him as the giant walked down the aisle. Young Henry promptly fell over the barricade, but Andrè picked him up and gently placed him back into the crowd. Since then, Henry sought to follow the footsteps of his ideal, and coming from a family of larger-than-life men, he already was halfway there.
Before entering WWE in 1996, Henry already had established a stark reputation as an olympic-class powerlifter; merrily deadlifting 903 pounds (~409 kg) during the 1995 USAPL nationals. This fame meant he didn't really need any fancy stage persona or gimmick when he entered the ring - and certainly not after suplexing Big Show of all the people so hard it literally broke said ring.
Henry retired from wrestling after Wrestlemania 33 in 2017, but still has an active role as a backroom producer and commentator for WWE.
In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]
Mark Henry debuted in 8chanmania XVIII, but didn't make it past his first match against Chris Benoit.
