Matthew Robert Patrick, better known under his Nom de guerre MatPat, is a semi-retired YouTube e-celeb known for his Game Theorists series.

Bio[edit | edit source]

Like many young Americans, Matpat originally dreamed of becoming an actor. He therefore underwent the mandatory, ritualized steps of moving to New York in the hopes of making it Big on the Broadway, not making it big on The Broadway, and being left without a job in a stupidly expensive city. Then he watched an episode of Extra Credits, which gave him the idea of launching his own show, Game Theorists.

The show originally started as a relatively benign popular science-style format that investigated how video game elements like time travel or teleportation would translate into the real world. Unfortunately, the show soon began aiming for a target audience of ADHD-riddled twelve-year-olds, meaning most of its popularity comes from the unholy trifecta of Undertale, Minecraft, and Five Nights at Freddy's.

Perhaps ridden by guilt over the monstrosity he created, MatPat himself left the show in March 2024.

In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]

MatPat briefly appeared in 8chanmania LXXVIII, where he was supposed to act as the manager of Sans. Or would have, at least, if Francis had not put a bullet between his eyes the moment MatPat opened his mouth. Turns out, Francis hates YouTube e-celebs, too.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Aside from Game Theorists, MatPat also launched at least over 9000 other side formats that spins theories about cooking, fashion, and what-have-you.
