Pac-Man is the protagonist of the eponymous series.
Bio[edit | edit source]
Pac-Man is a round, yellow blob with a ravenous appetite for equally yellow dots (alongside the occasional piece of fruit). To collect either of these, he has to navigate a maze and avoid the four ghosts that are haunting it, although a temporary powerup allows him to 'eat' the ghosts and send them back to the center of the maze until they respawn.
According to Toru Iwatani, Pac-Man's creator, his appearance was inspired by a pizza with a missing slice and a stylized form of the kanji symbol kouchi, meaning 'mouth'. The original breakthrough success lead to a metric ton of sequels (including the one that introducued Ms. Pac-Man, a mascot role for Bandai, and a slot in Super Smash Bros.
In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]
Pac-Man debuted in 8chanmania XVIII, where the Bandai mascot got wrecked by the ancient Sega mascot Opa-Opa.
He also appeared in 8chanmania XXIX, but Tetris Block easily cleared him out.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Pac-Man originally was known as 'Puck Man', but American publisher changed his names over the worry that he might undergo the same joke as 'Sneed's (formerly Chuck's) Seed and Feed'.
