In Reality[edit | edit source]
Created to be a mascot of PepsiCo's Japanese division, Pepsiman is a thirst-quenching, unstoppable being, bent on making sure you can get a Pepsi should your throat ever run dry.
In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]
Debut & Season 1[edit | edit source]
Pepsiman is thought to have debuted in 8chanmania IV, where he defeated Bret Hart, though it's unknown at what point of the tournament this happened. He made his recorded debut in 8chanmania XI against Viewtiful Joe, taking the victory over his opponent by pinfall. Pepsiman would go on to lose his next match, getting pinned by eventual champion N. Tropy.
He likewise had a stint in 8chanmania XX alongside Geoff Keighly. Their promotional victory against Fansy and his Sand Giant did not protect them from the KO at the hands of Demifiend and Gene.
Pepsiman would be on his own against in 8chanmania XXIII. His victory against Tony Hawk sadly did not see him come very far, as he immediately was KO'd by Alice Fateburn XVI one round later.
Return in Season 2 & Possible Cola Wars Re-ignition[edit | edit source]
Pepsiman returned to fight in 8chanmania XLVII, with his First Round opponent being the incredibly threatening Dark Donald. With McDonald's being a Coke distributor exclusively, Pepsiman felt a strong drive to defeat Donald and prove the true power of Pepsi. Pepsiman however was no match for Donald's mastery of MUGENtime and succumbed to the dark clown. In his victory, Donald told Pepsiman of his ultimate plan: To ditch Coca-Cola and launch the ultimate drink brand, McSoda, destroying all other brands in its wake.
Pepsiman appeared again in Season Two, entering 90s Mania and drawing Scatman John in the First Round. Pepsiman did away with the kindly, scat-singing fellow, but John refused to leave Pepsiman's side, citing that he needed to "chill out" and 'stop worrying about making sure everyone has a Pepsi'. Pepsiman would have John by his side through his victories over Bret Hart (again), Gex and Steve (Harvester), landing himself in the finals against (You). Unfortunately for everybody's favorite cola mascot, (You) forced him to tap out, stealing the belt, and any possible one-up he could have gained over Dark Donald.
"The Pepsiman Rule"[edit | edit source]
Pepsiman's legacy in 8chanmania is not due to his exploits in the ring, rather, he is most known for being the prime example/clarification of one of the many binding rules under which 8chanmania is run. As part of the Mania's limitations, only so many 'non-vidya' characters can enter into a single Mania at a given time, which leaves somewhat of a gray area as to what is considered 'vidya' and what is considered 'non-vidya'. Pepsiman, while not created to be a video game character, is only best known as a result of the cult classic Playstation game in which he stars, which qualifies him to be a 'vidya' character, not subject to the limitation. From his debut, any questionable nomination to the Mania is examined under The Pepsiman Rule to determine eligibility.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Pepsiman was the first ever fighter to speak a line of dialogue once it got introduced.
