Pino is the protagonist of the SNES title Project Wonder J.
Bio[edit | edit source]
Take the good old tale of Pinnochio. Now, give it a modern spin by having the boy be an android instead of a wooden doll, and also add an evil government conspiracy that results in the equivalent of Geppetto being dragged off to some clandestine black ops site just moments his creation turns online. This gives you Pino - a lively robot boy, whose stark lack of parental figures means it is the player who has to teach him right from wrong.
What makes the game interesting is that Pino is not under direct control of the player. Instead, the player merely controls a fairy, which conveniently doubles as a mouse cursor. The player thus can tell Pino to interact with various people or objects, but since the entire game is about teaching Pino how to be human, it is equally important to either praise or scold him for how he interacts with said people or objects. While trying to blow up a government building.
In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]
Pino, accompanied by his younger 'sister', Josette, fought in the Square Enix-themed 8chanmania XCIV. The two started out with Airy, who offered to make Pino a hero if he could beat her in a wrestling match. Pino did exactly that, and would have proved an ideal victim by virtue of being comically dense, had he not been defeated by Caim in the following round.
