Randy Pitchford is the CEO of Gearbox Software.

Bio[edit | edit source]

Pitchford fell in love with gaming at a young age; creating his first text adventure by the time he was around eleven and using a hex editor to look behind the code of all-time classic Colossal Cave Adventure. Originally in employ of 3D Realms (where he worked on games like Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior), he and some of his colleagues went on to form Gearbox Software in 1999. The latter is widely known and/or despised for producing at least four annual sequels for Borderlands, which each iteration having a worse excuse for humor than the last.

Aside from game development, Pitchford also is a hobbyist stage magician. His perhaps most famous trick was the spontaneous disappearance of the development funds SEGA had given to Gearbox in exchange for developing Aliens: Colonial Marines, but he also knows routines such as posting Battleborn porn on Reddit to remind people the game exists, or scamming Gearbox Developers out of their bonuses.

Pitchford also is one of the main culprits behind Duke Nukem Forever nearly spending forever in development hell before it was released and made people wish it had remained there.

In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]

Pitchford only fought in 8chanmania XVI, and lacking records mean nothing beyond him not winning a belt there has survived.
