Remilia Scarlet is a vampire and the Stage 6 Boss (as well as main antagonist) of the Touhou game Embodiment of the Scarlet Devil. She also appears in Imperishable Night and various spin-off titles such as Touhou Hisoutensoku. She also features prominently in the Bohemian Archive in Japanese Red printwork.
Bio[edit | edit source]
The daughter of the legendary Vlad himself (or at least she claims so), Remilia Scarlet is a vampire in her early 500s that acts as the mistress of the aptly-named Scarlet Devil Mansion. Although she generally tries to surround herself with a noble, aristocratic air, Remilia not only looks but more than often also acts like an older child; and most of her greater actions (i.e, covering all of Gensokyo beneath scarlet mist or flying to the moon on a home-made rocket) are planned for no greater purpose other than to simply alleviate her boredom.
Like most of the Undead bloodsuckers, the Scarlet Devil enjoys an impressive deal in both physical power and magical talent. She supposedly can even manipulate fate itself, but her little sister Flandre suggests that Remilia truthfully can only predict the outcome of events and then claims she made them happen that way. Just according to keikaku.
In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]
Season 1[edit | edit source]
Remilia's first appearance was during 8chanmania XXX. She fought and rather remarkably lost to her own maid Sakuya Izayoi during the preliminaries.
Season 3[edit | edit source]
After being absent for the duration of an entire mania, Remilia eventually reappeared in 8chanmania LXXVII, where she faced Ganondorf. Her misidentifying him as an African and/or a member of "Sanae's tribe" apparently made him so irate that he KO'd her by smashing a chair over the vampire's head.
All good things come in threes, and Remilia made sure to make good on this rule during 8chanmania LXXXIII. Although highly averse to light, the Scarlet Devil set off ot a quick start by going nuclear on Utsuho Reiuji and somehow managed to beat the smartest even though he had the strongest and the fastest as his managers. Kay Faraday was the second yatagarasu the vampire had to deal with this night, and she did so quite splendidly - to the point that Kay now volunteers to help "clean" Remilia's mansion. The music of K.K. Slider left her entirely unimpressed, and by the team she defeated Noble Six, Remilia Scarlet had not only earned herself her first belt, but also had found her dinner for the night.
Entering the grand finals of 8chanmania XCIX, Remilia displayed her vampiric power by defeating the card-carrying biker Yusei Fudo, only to rudely reject Yukari Yakumo's insistent demand that she return to Gensokyo before her absence led to problems. Perhaps fortunately, Remilia's aristocratic elegance proved to be a critical weakness against the overwhelming crudeness of Piro Il Grezzo, who threw her out of the quarter-finals.
Remilia's epilogue saw her being relentless bullied by that one sun from Super Mario until a hastily intervening Sakuya skewered it with knives and presumably returned her badly-scared mistress to Gensokyo.
8chanmania C[edit | edit source]
During 8chanmania C, Dracula and Kain had a little argument over who of them was of the superior bloodline. Though Dracula himself lost the match against Kain, he next proposed having the question answered by letting two of their descendants fight one another. Kain threw a rather unwilling Raziel into the ring, while Dracula sent in his apparent grand-daughter Remilia.
Remilia did not take kindly to her defeat against the wraith, but when she announced she was just getting started, Raziel in turn announced her little sister Flandre had found the secret location of all the pudding inside the Scarlet Devil Mansion and was about to eat all of it herself. A teary-eyed Remilia bolted straight back home.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Dracula may or may not have taken Remilia to Disneyland before she went back to Gensokyo
