Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a beast of burden used to power Santa Claus' sleigh.

Bio[edit | edit source]

The idea that Santa's sleigh was drawn by reindeers is a comparatively modern concept, having first originated in an 1821 illustrated children's poem published in New York. Animal rights' concerns meant that the originally single reindeer was quickly bolstered by seven additional ones by the time of 1823, and by 1902, the staff was upgraded to a total of ten reindeer.

By 1939, American retail giant Montgomery Corporation realized that its annual give-away of coloring books during Christmas could be much cheaper if would produce said books in-house. Thick Chicago fog from Lake Michigan subsequently inspired artist Robert L. May to come up with Rudolph - a reindeer whose shining red nose made it an excellent guiding beacon during the often poor weather of Christmas Eve.

In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]

Rudolph debuted in 8chanmania IX, but lacking records mean nothing beyond him not winning a belt has survied.

The reindeer returned for 8chanmania XLII, but while it managed to trample Pingu, it was later 'de-fehe-tead' by Jack Frost.
