Rugal Bernstein is the main antagonist of The King of Fighters '94' .

Bio[edit | edit source]

Bernstein is an arrogant and utterly sadistic cartel boss who deals in arms and drugs alike. He has little concern over human life and (repeatedly) murdered other individuals for the sole purpose of spiting or punishing people he deemed bothersome. He likewise has a somewhat bizarre hobby of preserving the bodies of worthy opponents of liquid metal; only to display them in his personal trophy room. The first King of Fighters game notably came about due to him seeking to expand his collection.

Though Bernstein is a lethal fighter in his own right and has more than enough moves of his own, his perhaps most dangerous skill is the ability to copy moves from other fighters. In-game, this is seen in him using moves from endbosses of the earlier Fatal Fury games. He even was supposed to be capable of using every single special move in game; with technical restrictions being the only reason this idea was scrapped. Long story short, he's a smug, cheap bastard.

In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]

Bernstein debuted in 8chanmania III, but no information of his performance there have survived.

He also fought in 8chanmania XCVII, where he mercilessly pummeled the young Pico. His karmic reward arrived in the form of Balthasar Gelt, who answered Bernstein's demand for ultimate wealth by literally pulling a gold bar from his robes and throwing it against the villain's head.
