Ryu is a playable fighter from (and main protagonist) of the Street Fighter series.
Bio[edit | edit source]
Having lost his otherwise nondescript parents at a young age, a young Ryu was taken under the wing of the martial arts master Gouken. The old man's tutelage (and the chance to watch prodigies like Akuma before the latter decided to leave his morals in the car) fell upon fertile ground, and with Ken Masters as a sparring partner, Ryu soon became an accomplished fighter thirsting for a challenge.
He got what he asked for, and then some.
While Ryu's participation in the first World Warrior Tournament was a relatively innocent quest meant to establish himself as the strongest man in the world, thirty years' worth of sequels and assorted crossovers have burdened Ryu with a lasting grudge against crime lord M. Bison, an evil twin, and all the other bullshit a generic fighting game hero has to put up with.
In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]
Ryu is rumored to have fought in the legendary 8chanmania I, but nothing beyond that is known.
