Tetsuya Nomura is a Japanese video game artist, designer, producer, and one of the shadowy figures behind Square Enix.
Bio[edit | edit source]
A young Nomura initially wanted to become a manga artist and went to vocational school to learn magazine and advertising artwork. Joining Square Enix, he started out as a debugger for Final Fantasy IV, became lead monster designer for Final Fantasy V, graphic director of Final Fantasy VI, and main character designer for Final Fantasy VII. We're not saying it's his fault Aerith Gainsborough got murdered - but he did his part.
While he kept and still keeps on working on the Final Fantasy series, Nomura's actual master plan came under a different name: Kingdom Hearts. In a perfect world, the whole setting might have been a tongue-in-cheek satire poking fun at all the badly-written pieces of crossover fanfiction on the web. But this is not a perfect world, so both Nomura and consumers think that pairing up spiky-haired anime protagonists with Disney characters is a genuinely good idea.
In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]
8chanmania XCIII[edit | edit source]
While not shown on screen, it was Tesuya Nomura whom Default-Chan called on how to get rid of both the battling Imperial and Chaos forces from Warhammer 40.000 that were busily wrecking the ring during 8chanmania XCIII. It also was Nomura who suggested Deffy should dress up as a bed sheet ghost to spook them all away. This proved so stunningly effective that a terrified Inquisitor Draco immediately teleported right back to the battleship of Admiral Spire hanging in low orbit and enacted Exterminatus upon the whole mania. TL/DR: Cyclonic Torpedoes fell, everyone died.
As it so happened, Default-Chan, Violet, and a handful of other survivors managed to survive inside a handy pocket dimension, squarely located within the basement of the Aperture Science Physical Testing Facility. And would you believe it, Nomura's personal lair also happened to lie within the very bowels of said basement. It was the weirdest coincidence that Default-Chan, with nowhere left to go, had to ask Nomura of all the people for yet another favor.
8chanmania XCIV[edit | edit source]
In his infinite magnanimity, Nomura used his bullshit-tier plot-writing powers to recreate the mania, and the whole world with it. Which only came at the low cost of having Deffy declare him the Creative Director of the mania, as well as giving him full control of the mania. Starting to see a pattern here?
What Nomura arguably didn't anticipate was that his Square Enix Mania would immediately be hijacked by Pinsem and Exdeath, who nonchalantly banished Nomura to the twilight realm (or " something like that, anyway™ "). Things obviously turned out alright as they always did, but everyone sort of forgot to get Nomura out of there again. Chances are he's still furiously writing crossover fanfiction.
