Mark William Calaway, better known under his ringname as The Undertaker, is a retired American professional wrestler.
Bio[edit | edit source]
While many wrestlers have a football background due to the physically demanding and inherently violent nature of the sport, Calaway's towering height destined him to be one of the few non-Black people who could hope for a genuine career in basketball. He briefly toyed with the idea of migrating to Europe in order to establish said career there, but then came to the conclusion that he would have better chances by staying back home and becoming a wrestler instead.
Following a brief stint in the WCW and an even briefer stint in NJPW, Calaway eventually joined WWE. He cast aside his various former gimmicks to become The Undertaker - a vengeful revenant whose destructive capacities were only held back by his manager and mortician Paul Bearer - and his control over the urn that held the Undertaker's supposed ashes.
On the physical side, Calaway's sheer height and strength made him an intimidating opponent. More importantly, he was an expert technician, and one of the few people WWE trusted to the point that they allowed him to use the otherwise-banned piledriver move. Which, improperly handled, could easily cripple or kill a person by virtue of snapping their neck.
On the show side, The Undertaker was a living icon and WWE's favorite nuclear option. Whenever the plot of a heel required him to piss off the audience and build up enough heat to warrant karmic retribution, The Undertaker's trademark funeral march would play, and the heel would visually shit his pants before the Deadman all but buried him in a shallow grave.
In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]
The Undertaker supposedly fought in the legendary 8chanmania I, but nothing beyond that is known.
His only properly recorded appearance was during the 24 Hour Stream, where the Undertaker was one of the WWE champions that tried to prevent Dr. Morbis from stealing the mystic negaballs. Emphasis on 'tried' - while The Undertaker technically won his match against Morbis, it didn't really count because Morbis pulled out a gun and shot him in the face afterwards.
