ZUN (real name: Jun'ya Ota) is the sole member of Team Shanghai Alice, and the one-man team behind the mainline games of Touhou Project.

Bio

Originally from the cozy ski resort town of Hakuba in Nagano Prefecture, ZUN moved to Tokyo in order to study mathematics at Tokyo Denki University. He became part of the Amusement Makers student group and worked on collaborative titles like Seihou Project. His true calling, however, was composing music. He thus created his own Touhou Project, and cobbled a few games together so people could enjoy his tunes while they ruined their 1CC.

ZUN spent the better part of nine years working at Taito, but between Taito not allowing him to drink beer while at work and Touhou's exploding popularity in the mid-2000s, he quit his job and turned his former hobby into a full-time job. As such, ZUN serves as the lone programmer, composer, writer, and (infamously so) artist for each Touhou game (sans the fighting game spin-offs). He likewise directs the pen for Touhou's mangas and other printworks.

In 8chanmania

ZUN's fought in 8chanmania XL, where he bested Todd Howard in the preliminaries and offered him his Bug Girl Wriggle Nightbug as a crossover character for Fallout 76. He would then go on to defeat the Parasite Eve protagonist Aya Brea after the spammed a dozen submission moves on him, but ultimately failed to win against Bob from Animal Crossing.

Judging by his own words, ZUN is well aware that 'his' girls were captured by GLaDOS, and was seemingly asked by Yukari Yakumo to retrieve them. Whether or not he played an active role when Yukari did bring all of them back home in the wake of Remilia Scarlet's defeat in 8chanmania C us unknown.
