Chargeman Ken is the titular protagonist of the best goddamn anime show to ever hit Japanese television.

Bio[edit | edit source]

Living inside a futuristic city at the year of 2074, Ken Izumi nominally appears to be a regular ten-year-old boy. But whenever the Juralian aliens show up to invade earth with one of their hilariously ham-fisted plans (i.e, every freaking day), he transforms into the superhero Chargeman Ken to protect Earth for the entirety of the episode's ten minutes.

So what makes Chargeman Ken so great? To illustrate: Back in the day, the average production budget for an anime episode stood at around five million yen. The budget for an episode of Chargeman Ken stood at 500.000, so roughly one-tenth of that. And it shows. From a non-existent animation department, to wildly unenthusiastic voice actors, to plots that are illogical at best and batshit insane at worst, Chargeman Ken is so absurdly bad (two frames in one episode consist of photographs of an employee's hand!) that it somehow becomes good again. Watch it and weep.

In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]

Chargeman Ken debuted in 8chanmania LXXXVII and promptly cut himself on the edge of a different Crash Bandicoot. It's fine, though - he couldn't have remained in the mania for more than ten minutes anyway.
