Death is the cessation of life.

Bio[edit | edit source]

Death and its potential connection to the afterlife has been a puzzling mystery to mankind since it first managed to cobble two coherent thoughts together. And as with all abstract things it couldn't wrap their heads around, mankind could not resist the urge to turn him into a glorified waifu - especially if you're into The Sandman. Or Norse. Or Aztec-Mexican.

Be that as it may, the most conventional form of Death in the western hemisphere (and where the latter got its fingers on) is that of a skeleton, clad in midnight-black robes and manning an enormous scythe. The latter led to its title as 'The Reaper', for much as a farmer would reap the wheat during harvest season, Death was thought to reap the souls of the deceased after they had just finished leaving their body.

Despite of his intimidating appearance, Death rarely acts as an actual cause of death. Instead, it usually serves as a psychopomp (i.e. a guide to the afterlife) or ruler of said afterlife, and while the Danse Macabre tradition of the middle ages often portrayed him as an unwelcome guest, modern fiction tends to portray it as a surprisingly human(e) figure - down to the fatherly (and grandfatherly) figure found in the Discworld books.

In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]

Death fought in 8chanmania XL. Against all odds, he managed to shake off the violent blows and violent insults of Andrew Jackson, yet even the inevitable balked at the sociopathic cruelty of Luca Blight.
