Roll is a recurring character from the MegaMan series.
Bio[edit | edit source]
Much like Mega Man himself, Roll is an android crafted by the skillful hands of Dr. Light. Unlike her 'older brother', however, Roll was never meant for combat duty; instead serving as a domestic servant that performs household chores such as cleaning and cooking. Contemporary critics might decry this as a sign of rampant sexism, but for her part, Roll seems to be pretty content with her role. Thus proving the point of superior programming.
Despite of the fact that Roll is usually stuck in her position as a support character that briefly appears in the games' openings and/or endings, she remains one of the most popular characters in the series. Said popularity led to her getting a bit more of a spotlight in later titles, including fighting-game spin-offs like Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes.
In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]
Roll was nominated for the porn-themed 8chanmania XXX. Because of course she was. Unfortunately, her gimmick of being an unlockable joke character meant Roll didn't fare too well when fighting Fado; who quickly threw her out of the preliminaries.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Roll follows the games' tradition of being named after a musical genre; with her being the proverbial 'Roll' to MegaMan's 'Rock'. Notably, she's the only character to keep her original Japanese name in western translations, whereas Rock became MegaMan, Blues became Protoman, and so forth.
