"Won't you be my neighbor?"
— Fred Rogers

Fred McFeely Rogers, better known as Mr. Rogers was an American minister and television personality.

Bio[edit | edit source]

Graduating from Darthmouth college with a BA in music and from the Pittsburg Theological Seminary with a bachelor in divinity, Mr. Roger's 1953 TV debut was chiefly fueled by his own dissatisfaction over the contemporary TV program - particularly that aimed at children. By 1968, he had his own show by the name of Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. It would end up as a national treasure with some 895 weekly episodes until the end of 2000, and still sees regular re-runs.

Roger's show was inspirational for entire generations of American children; making him somewhat of a modern-day saint to to many Americans. His effect on adults was no less profound: Speaking before the US Senate Subcommittee on Communications - well before his later fame -, Roger's testimony not only averted a cut to the funding of his native PBS channel, but instead saw it more than doubled.

In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]

Although generally opposed to violence, Fred Rogers still showed up in 8chanmania LXXXII. There, he beat the crap out of Chris Hansen (while also lauding him for his service in protecting children), put Kurt Wylde back into his place, and finally saw the end of pacifism at the knuckles of Knuckles.

During 8chanmania XCII, Mr. Rogers served as the manager of Black Dynamite.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Rogers was an avid swimmer, and would visit Pitsburg Athletic Association to do his laps on a daily basis.
