Shinya Arino is a Japanese comedian.

Bio[edit | edit source]

Serving as the boke to Masarau Hamaguchi's tsukkomi in the manzai comedy duo Yoiko, Arino's relative popularity in the west chiefly stems from him starring in the gaming variety show Game Center CX. The latter sees him trying to clear various retro console games (typically of the Famicom era) over the span of a single day. This generally leads to great amusement on the part of the audience and increasing despair on the part of Arino as he blindly stumbles through old hardcore classics like Shinobi; the supporting staff only being allowed to help him to the point that he does not suffer a complete mental breakdown.

When not cursing his fate and burning through cooling pads at an alarming rate, Arino occasionally also visits various gaming arcades, holds interviews with game developers (notably including the late Satoru Iwata), or showcases old gaming hardware.

In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]

As with most fighters that debuted in the first season of 8chanmania, it can no longer be traced back when or where Arino first debuted.

His first recorded appearance was in 8chanmania XII, where he fought and, to the dismay or many, lost against The Angry Video Game Nerd.

Arino's second coming took place in 8chanmania XLIX, where he was challenged to clear the game of Crazy Bus. It went about as well as one might expect.

The chief's third and possibly last chance to clear 8chanmania will be in 8chanmania XCVII. He sadly failed once more after Doc Louis stole his cooling pad and his chance for a belt.
