Crazy Frog is the embodiment of every nerve-grating phone ringtone ever created.
Bio[edit | edit source]
Back in 1997, a Swedish student recorded himself imitating the noise of a two-stroke engine. He apparently was quite good at it, as the record became a hit on the file-sharing networks of yesteryear. By 2003, another Swede heard the recording, and was inspired to create a prototype of the crazy frog simply called The Annoying Thing to go with the sound.
The internet popularity of this character brought in the infernal forces known as Jamba, who licensed the character and commercialized it - first as a ringtone, then presented on badly-made covers of Beverley Hills Cop's main theme Axel F and others. To call it "ear rape" would be an understatement, but where all involved parties rejoiced when the character apparently was killed off in 2009, a 2020 message claims a new album was already in development. God help us all.
In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]
The Crazy Frog (thankfully) only fought in 8chanmania LXXXVI. His auditory assault turned Lightning McQueen into a proper wreck and sent Erich von Raitenau to his Führer, but thankfully ended when Frank West did an investigative piece on how much punishment a single frog can take.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
One of Crazy Frog's moves played the entire "engine revving" soundclip. Due to the length of said soundclip, these sometimes stacked on top of each other. You do the math.
