Kizuna AI is a Japanese Vtuber.
Bio[edit | edit source]
While streamers hiding behind digital stage personas goes back as far as The Annoying Orange and VN maker Nitroplus' character Sonico (no relation to Sonichu), Kizuna AI was the first individual to coin the term 'Virtual YouTuber', and lead to the popular breakthrough of the format itself. If mostly because people were sick and tired of Farty McFuckface doing the next Let's Play.
As the name implies, Kizuna was described as an artificial intelligence that solely lived to entertain its viewers while it played video games, sung, and philosophized about the general affairs of things live on stream. This worked out relatively well until Kizuna's comet-like rise in popularity caused over 9000 copycats with cute anime girl avatars to pop up. Her temporary retirement in 2021 was soon followed up by an (as of date) indefinite hiatus in 2022. But hey, at least she's supposed to get her own anime.
In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]
Kizuna AI only appeared in 8chanmania XIV, and lacking records mean nothing beyond her not winning a belt has survived.
