The Christmas Tree is a popular decorative object during the festive season.
Bio[edit | edit source]
Though its precise origins are fairly obscure, the tradition of cramming assorted evergreens into your living room was first documented in 16th century Germany, and may have even more ancient predecessors amongst the Romans, Egyptians, and Chinese (though the latter were more sensible people and only used laurels instead of whole trees). As they maintained their color in a season where most other trees seemingly withered and died, evergreens became symbols of life itself, and thus proved fairly popular in a time when winter was less associated with snowmen and more with attempts to not freeze and/or starve to death.
Whether the evergreens enjoy this popularity is a different question. Sharing a fate similar to that of the Thanksgiving Turkey, their lifes are violently cut short when hordes upon hordes of humans get the crazy idea of planting a tree inside of their house, only to dispose of and leave it to rot barely a few weeks later. With such a routinized system of abuse, who could fault the plants for eventually having enough?
In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]
To the surprise of absolutely no-one, the Christmas Tree has only (but also reliably) appeared in Christmas-themed manias. These include:
8chanmania IX - whose lack of documentation means we don't know anything about the tree's performance other than it not winning the belt.
8chanmania XLIII, where the Christmas Tree cut down its old adversary Yule Log before being cut down in turn by Hans Gruber.
and 8chanmania LXXIV, where it defied all odds by sending Jesus Christ himself back to his old man, but could not withstand the rugged nature of Alasgan Bear.
