Geoff Keighly, better known under his official title as the Dorito Pope, is a holy man of tortilla chips and patron saint of the the E3.
Bio[edit | edit source]
Aged fourteen, a young Geoff Keighly was hired as part of the writing team for Cybermania '94: The Ultimate Game Awards. The latter happened to be the first game awards show that made it to television, and although it later was considered a blunder, Keighly became righteously obsessed with creating the gaming equivalent of the Academy Awards. This obsession turned him into a long-time host of the The Spike TV Video Game Awards, but creative differences eventually saw Keighly founding his very own show - The Game Awards.
His actual promotion to the holy office came about in 2012; when he entered an interview flanked by promotional material for doritos and mountain dew. Naysayers decried this as blatant product placement and bemoaned the overall downfall of game journalists (i.e. paid shills). But the faithful were quick to recognize their new shepherd, and every year, the flock congregates to celebrate heavily sponsored video games and whatever energy drink is en vogue nowadays.
Alas, Corona-chan took her toll on the E3 as she took on all public events, and with publishers deciding they might as well cut out the middle-man by live-streaming their own shows, E3 was laid to rest in 2023.
In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]
The Dorito Pope debuted in 8chanmania XX, where he formed a team with fellow advertising icon Pepsiman. They called down the spicy wrath of dorito heaven upon Fansy and his Sand Giant; only to be sent packing against Gene and Demifiend.
While His Holiness has not graced the ring in person since then, he regularly acted as an advisor and guiding light to Squilliam Fancyson.
