Owen James Hart, better known under his ringname Owen Hart was a Canadian professional wrestler.

Bio[edit | edit source]

Born into the prestigious Hart wrestling family, Owen somehow survived being the youngest of twelve children and started wrestling himself at high school. He soon joined the roster of his father's Stampede Wrestling until he joined New Japan Pro Wrestling in 1987. By 1989, Hart had entered the ranks of WWF, but while he did a bit of switcheroo in 1989, he would soon return to WWF and stay there for the rest of his career.

While Hart indeed was a talented wrestler (and would deliver some of the most technically sophisticated matches in wrestling history during his feud with his brother Bret Hart), his sad claim to fame is his own untimely demise during Over the Edge 1999. There, a stunt which would have seen Hart lowered into the ring via a harness and grapple line turned sour when Hart accidentally activated the release mechanism of the harness prematurely; sending him barreling into a 78-feet fall. He was rushed to the nearest hospital, but succumbed to the severe internal bleeding caused by blunt force trauma.

As the icing on the top, Vince McMahon had the bright idea of continuing the event as if nothing had happened. Hart's family retaliated by dragging WWE to court over how poorly-planned and reckless the stunt had been. The $18.000.000 settlement the two parties eventually reached was partially used to establish the Owen Hart Foundation by Hart's widow Martha - providing food, shelter, and medicine to children in need across the world.

In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]

Owen Hart debuted in 8chanmania X; forming a tag team with his brother-in-law Davey Boy Smith. The two quickly were eliminated by Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho during the preliminaries.
