Ran Yakumo is a character from Touhou, more specifically from the game Pefect Cherry Blossom.

Bio[edit | edit source]

Ran Yakumo is a shikigami (essentially a kind of familiar) which inhabits the body of a kitsune (essentially a type of fox spirit). She acts as a servant and right-hand woman to the dreaded gap youkai Yukari Yakumo, serving as something between a guardian, an emissary, or flat-out doing Yukari's job whenever the latter goes into hibernation during winter season. She excels at math; with Yukari likening her her mind to that of a modern-day computer.

Owing to the power of her master, Ran is capable of sustaining a shikigami of her own - namely in the form of Chen. What boils down to a master-servant relationship popularly is interpreted as that of mother and daughter, and Ran's appearance in 8chanmania were strictly aimed at returning her little kitten to her after Chen apparently got recruited by Clown and his power of the Honk.

In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]

A Blind Search[edit | edit source]

Ran Yakumo first showed up in 8chanmania XXXVII; frantically looking for her lost child. She defeated Susie (of Deltarune infamy), Blaziken, and noticeably went nuclear after Fat Bald Priest suggested he might have seen her. Alas, even Momma Fox could not resist handshake of Mr. Shake Hands Man.

She made a second appearance in 8chanmania XLI, only to be kicked out of the preliminaries by Pikachu Libre. Her after-show royal rumble against TF2 Scout, Point Man, Headdy, Ditto, Shaggy Rogers, and H.P. Lovecraft likewise was in vain; with Lovecraft taking the spoils.

Mama Fox is Angry[edit | edit source]

Her third attempt was in 8chanmania XLIX. She defeated Shanghai.exe (likening her poor manners to that of Medicine Melancholy), and quite flatly didn't have the time for the mind games of Scuttlebug. The latter took a whole new level when she faced off against Vivec, who once more forced the fox to go home. In hindsight, everyone was glad Vivec didn't draw the milk spear against her.

Family Reunion[edit | edit source]

Despite of very nearly having being forgotten for most of 8chanmania:Season 3, Ran and Chen mercifully were nominated as tag team partners for 8chanmania LXV. That they lost their first match against Ankha and Pikachu Libre after Chen insisted Ankha did have a phallus was, in a way, a lesser evil.
