"Now is not the time for fear. That comes later."
— Bane

Bane is a big guy.

Bio[edit | edit source]

Jailed in the dreaded Pena Duro complex in the place of his father, Bane spent his entire childhood and much of his early adult years in prison, yet nonetheless used every resource available to him to turn himself into a man whose raw physical strength was evenly matched by his cold, calculating intelligence. He is one of Batman's recurring enemies, and actually broke the spine of the superhero back in the day.

Based on his movie version from The Dark Knight Rises, Bane does not wear his mask to keep him pumped up with the drug Venom, but rather because his time in Pena Duro fucked his lungs up. Oh well. Removing it would be extremely painful to him anyway.

Bane has a warm relationship with CIA, whose plane he crashed while abducting some Russian nuclear scientists.

In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]

Season 1[edit | edit source]

Bane likely debuted in 8chanmania II, where the Big Guy came to recognize losing to Big Boss was not part of his plan.

His earliest recorded appearance was during 8chanmania XX, where he formed a tag team with CIA. Their plane, alas, did not fly so good when it ran into George Constanza and Tomoko Kuroki.

He also fought in 8chanmania XXVIII, and promptly lost to /b/rotha in the preliminaries.

More importantly, Bane was one of the selected fighters to participate in 8chanmania x MFW - IN/V/ASION in a desperate attempt to rescue Brendan Fraser. He won against Dragon and Salamander before eventually picking the short end of the straw against Aniki in the quarter-finals.

Season 2[edit | edit source]

Bane made a (very) brief reappearance during 8chanmania L. He fought Robin Mask, but the latter turned out to be too noble and/or British for him to defeat, causing the masked man to fly right out of the preliminary round.

Season 3[edit | edit source]

He tried to take over Banzaimania as part of the storytime during 8chanmania LXXIV. After his henchmen had been defeated by a rather irrate Bowling Elf, Bane himself entered the ring to defeat champion Matthew Stevens and to ensure that he could feel in charge. Suffice it to say that he didn't fly so good, and he subsequently was put on the plane of CIA.

Soul Calibur - in MY mania?![edit | edit source]

Bane renewed his attempt of a hostile takeover in 8chanmania LXXIX, where he somehow opened a portal into the SoulCalibur universe. His intense discussion of about his plans and moral ethics Cervantes de León, Clancer and Siegfried Schtauffen led Schtauffen himself into open rebellion, so he and Bane fought it out in a SoulCalibur match. Schtauffen won with a 3:2 score, but just as he was about to strike the killing blow, Bane opened another portal and fled.

Just prior to the semi-finals, Bane (now with Cervantes as his tag team partner) resumed his fight against Schtauffen (now with CIA as his respective tag team partner). He and Cervantes ended up winning the fight, but since Bane knew better than to breed competition, he sealed the ghost pirate with an ofuda he previously had bought from "a little shrine maiden". After this, he was quick to offer his services to Banzai Inc.; preferring to play for what he considered the winning team.

8chanmania C[edit | edit source]

Bane attempted to hijack the 'Historical Rumble' George Washington had prepared for 8chanmania C, sending no less than three of his Galsias and various other allies into the match. Alas, his plan not only backfired in that he attracted the attention of unaligned fighters to the ring, but also in as much as that Bane himself was thrown out of it sooner than latter.
The Big Guy still insisted his operation had been a success. For even though he had not so much as won a belt during the previous season, he still had found the means to push himself right back into the limelight. That even Washington himself had to concede that point only contributed to its credibility.

Bane also fought in the subsequent Battle of the Big Guys. Apparently losing was part of his plan, as he was the first of the seven fighters that would leave the ring.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Bane seems to have a certain romantic interest in /monster/'s Dragon. Whether said interest is genuine or just part of yet another plan on his part remains debatable.
