"I'm an honest, taxpaying Parisian. Don't I have a right to know?"
— Phantom R

Phantom R is the protagonist of Rythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure.

Bio[edit | edit source]

As if the overwhelming numbers of French-speaking people wasn't bad enough, the City of Light now has to deal with an ongoing spat of heists targeting its numerous art museums. The thief, only known under the moniker 'Phantom R', seems to dance right through the hordes of policemen and security guards the authorities send after him. And for some added mystery, all the pieces of art he steals mysteriously return to their former resting place a scant few days later.

What the authorities don't know is that all of the art Phantom R steals actually are forgeries, while those pieces he brings back are not. We'll let you guess how exactly that works, but suffice it to say there an art student in Paris whose flat has some really impressive interior decoration - courtesy of his old man. The latter sort of went missing alongside the casket of late Napoleon Bonaparte some three years ago, and Phantom R is keenly interested about both 'where' and 'why'.

In 8chanmania[edit | edit source]

Season 2[edit | edit source]

Phantom R debuted in 8chanmania XLVII and took the Mania by storm. R defeated three clowns, Rudy, Clown, and Dark Donald, as well as spy extraordinaire Cate Archer, before his promising young Mania career was cut down by a PTSD-riddled John Doe. Despite showing enough strength to overcome a fighter who controlled the power of MUGENtime, Phantom R could not overpower the dazed soldier.

His next series of burglary occurred in 8chanmania XLIX. Phantom R managed to defeated Bondrewd, but could not deal with the broken programming skills of Pajeet.

His currently most successful raid was during 8chanmania LX. The professional thief defeated Jonathan Ingram, Nero, V and almost took the hat of Claude Frollo (he later decided it was too ugly. Only during the finals, and only against his fight against Kunio was his crime put to a halt.

He'll rob again in 8chanmania LX. Or tried to, again, but Robbie Rotten sent him packing straight in the preliminaries.

Season 3[edit | edit source]

After a lengthy break, Phantom R resumed his heist in 8chanmania LXXI. His known victims included Zero Two and Geese Howard, but Uncle Buck did not appreciate his sleight-of-hand.

For 8chanmania LXXXVII, the fraudulent Frenchman teamed up with Hat Kid. The two stole a murder investigation right from under the noses of Miles Edgeworth and Dick Gumshoe, but their luck turned sore when Phantom R ran into a former victim of his thievery - TF2 Engineer. Notably accompanied by a freaking Zaku II. Cutting the purses of an irate Texan when he has a Gundam covering his back was one number to big from him and Hat Kid.

Sensing his last chance to steal the belt, Phantom R partned up with Lupin III for 8chanmania XCVIII. He and his partner-in-crime promptly found themselves facing a still-vengeful Miles Edgeworth (and his lackey Dick Gumshoe), but despite several legally questionable shenanigans (such as trying to get King Harkinian to imprison the thieves in his dungeon without a proper trial), Edgeworth and Gumshoe were hoisted by their own petard when Harkinian instead imprisoned them for losing the match. Sadly, their next fight against Adolf Hitler and Chaika Trabant ran less smoothly - they were soundly defeated after Lupin tried talking Hitler into sharing all of his pirated Seinefeld episodes with him.
